  • AP reporter Matthew Brown, who doubted Ray Dolin's account of getting shot while hitchhiking cross-country to gather material for a book about the kindness of strangers, a weird tale which unraveled when Dolin confessed that his gunshot wound — which itself seemed to contradict his optimistic thesis — had been self-inflicted.
